About Freedom Business Group

A local brokerage built around one idea: the owner who spent years building a business deserves a sale process that protects it. Freedom to build, freedom to own.

Shane Proctor — Business Broker

About me

As the owner of Cannonball Pool Company, I understand the dedication and hard work it takes to build and run a business. That experience shapes my approach to business brokerage and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

I help people buy and sell businesses, providing clear communication and practical guidance through each step of the process. Whether you're ready to sell, looking for the right business to buy, or exploring opportunities for growth, I take the time to understand your goals.

My goal is to make the process more manageable and help you move confidently into your next chapter.

I work with owners selling privately held businesses and buyers acquiring them across Kern, Ventura, Tulare, Fresno, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties — the businesses that hold this region together: home services and trades, manufacturing and machining, distribution, agriculture services, healthcare practices, hospitality and technology services.

I'm a member of the Franchise Broker Association, which gives buyers access to more than 1,500 vetted franchise brands alongside independent businesses and franchise resales.

Most owners I talk to aren't selling today — they're planning one to three years out and want straight answers about what their business is worth and what it takes to get there. Those first conversations are free and confidential.

Who we are

Freedom Business Group is a Central California business brokerage working directly with owners and buyers — not a franchise storefront reselling someone else's process. Every engagement is handled by Shane Proctor personally, backed by nine years of real estate experience.

We are a member of the Franchise Broker Association, which puts more than 1,500 vetted franchise brands in front of buyers alongside independent businesses and franchise resales.

Our clients are the businesses that hold this region together: home services and trades, manufacturing and machining, distribution, agriculture services, healthcare practices, hospitality and technology services.

How we work

  1. Confidentiality first. Nothing is marketed, named or shared without written permission. Staff, customers and competitors learn about a sale when you decide they should.
  2. Numbers before promises. You get a written opinion of value with the comparables and assumptions attached — not a flattering figure designed to win the listing.
  3. Real buyer qualification. Buyers are screened for capital and financing before they see your information. Information is released in stages, not all at once.
  4. One point of contact. The person who values your business is the person who negotiates it and manages the close.

What we will not do

We do not publish transaction counts, award badges or client testimonials we cannot substantiate, and we do not promise a price or a ranking to win an engagement. If a claim is not verifiable, it is not on this site.

We also will not take an engagement we do not believe will close. Sometimes the honest advice is to spend twelve months tightening books and reducing owner dependence, then go to market at a materially higher price.

Local market visibility

Our live market feed pulls businesses currently for sale across all six counties every day, so buyers see genuinely current inventory and sellers see what they are being compared against. That same data informs the valuation ranges we give owners.

Frequently asked questions

Who will I actually be working with?
Shane Proctor at Freedom Business Group. Calls and emails come to one person — (661) 243-0739 or Shane@freedombusinessgroup.com — not a call centre or a rotating junior associate.
What areas do you cover?
Kern, Ventura, Tulare, Fresno, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. We work these markets directly rather than claiming statewide coverage we cannot service well.
How much experience do you have?
Nine years in real estate, plus the business brokerage and franchise work I do today. We publish only what we can stand behind — no inflated transaction counts or award badges.
Are you affiliated with any broker network?
Yes — we are a member of the Franchise Broker Association, which gives buyers access to more than 1,500 vetted franchise brands alongside our resale and independent-business work.
Is a first conversation confidential?
Yes. Nothing is marketed, shared or listed from an initial conversation. Most owners talk to us one to three years before they intend to sell.
How do you get paid?
Sell-side work is a success fee at closing, agreed in writing before we begin. Valuations and first consultations cost nothing.
